She always knows. She knows which color to add, what essence to release into the air, how to shape the silence between sounds.
She knows when to bloom and when to rest. She speaks in rhythms, not words - and yet, she’s never misunderstood by those who truly listen.
About me
My name is Jana Popelková. I’m a photographer and videomaker from the Czech Republic, deeply inspired by the raw beauty of nature.
Since an early age, I’ve been drawn to wild, untamed places - where nature still sets the rules. That’s what I loved about Svalbard. Life is possible there, but only with deep humility and respect. In that vast Arctic silence, nature truly comes first.
Even when my fingers were freezing, I couldn’t help myself... I had to capture the countless shades of blue, the pastel skies, and the crystal whites of the landscape. For me, the camera is a way to listen to what nature whispers, and to share that quiet magic with others.
Nature
Nature is my greatest inspiration and an endless source of energy and creativity. It never ceases to surprise me. I love exploring it and getting to know more about it every day.
Wildlife
Animals have always held a special place in my heart.
I believe every creature plays a vital role in the delicate balance of our ecosystems, and it’s our responsibility to protect them.

A strong community is the foundation of happiness for me.

Walrus safari, ice edge
For Svalbard Adventure, I had the opportunity to document a trip to a walrus safari and the ice edge. Visitors were able to witness these majestic animals during their afternoon "siesta" and observe the rapidly disappearing sea ice with their own eyes.
Everything was experienced from a safe distance, ensuring the animal's privacy and peace were respected.
This kind of experience allows people to truly feel the changes happening in this fragile Arctic desert - not just hear about them, but see and sense them firsthand. And that’s essential for inspiring real action and shifting our everyday habits toward a gentler, more mindful way of living.
